2019      forum     SPEAKERS     &     Program

​The 2019 Greater Bay Area Impact Forum originally planned for November 18-20, 2019 will be postponed due to the escalating social unrest in Hong Kong in recent weeks. We will keep you posted on the alternate dates of this Forum and other related activities that the Foundation is organizing.

Dr. Ma Jun, Chairman, China Green Finance Committee, Co-chair, G20 Green Finance Study Group, President and Chairman of Hong Kong Green Finance Association. Between 2014-17, Chief Economist, Research Bureau, People’s Bank of China (PBOC). Prior to that, Prof. Ma served for 13 years at Deutsche Bank as Managing Director, Chief Economist for Greater China, and Head of China and Hong Kong Strategy.

​Dr. David Stubbs, Executive Director, J.P. Morgan. Dr. Stubbs is responsible for delivering research-driven insights on the global economy at the Bank. He is a member of the International Private Bank’s Sustainable Investing Committee.  He previously worked at the United Nations Department for Economics and Social Affairs and UK’s Department for International Development.

​Prof Rae Kwon Chung, a Board member of the Ban Ki-moon Foundation for a Better Future. Prof Chung was awarded the 2017 Nobel Peace Prize as a member of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC). He is also the author of the “Green Growth” concept, whereby countries should enable natural assets to deliver their full economic potential on a sustainable basis.

Dr. Tsu-Der Lee, Director, Board of Trustees, Taipei Medical University.  Dr. Lee has served as Managing Director of H&Q Asia Pacific, Ltd.  He is a pioneer in healthcare and bio-tech investments in Asia.

Mr. Hazem Al Nakib, Founder, Cambridge Blockchain Forum and Cambridge Blockchain Hub. He is a financial and regulatory technology expert, the Managing Partner at Sentinel Capital Group, and sits on the advisory boards of multiple companies leveraging blockchain, distributed ledger technologies (DLT), and AI, especially in the financial sector.

​Dr. Wang Yu, Former Director, Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention.  Dr. Wang has made significant contribution in various key research projects funded by the “863”, “973” and other Ministry of Science and Technology funding schemes.  He also served in the councils of many medical science and life science professional bodies.

Danny also holds positions as VP/Director of Valley Christian Schools Math Science and Engineering, and Chief Technology Officer of Quest Institute where he utilizes his industry skills to provide innovative opportunities for students to learn sciences.

Ms. Rosana Wong, Executive Director, Yau Lee Construction Company Limited, Founder and Chairperson, Ophylla Ventures. Ms. Wong is also a Director of Hong Kong Cyberport Management Company Limited, Deputy Director of China Green Building (Hong Kong) Council , Member of Transport Advisory Committee of The Government of the HKSAR, Member of the Environment and Conservation Fund Committee of The Government of the HKSAR.

Mr. Tony Li, Partner, Baywise Capital.  Mr. Li . Mr. Li has both an entrepreneurial and investment background. Tony worked for 5 years at General Atlantic as Principal, and 2.5 years as Managing Director at Hillhouse Capital, where he was co-head of Internet and Software businesses.  Working with his college roommate, Tony co-founded the leading fintech company PPDAI (NYSE: PPDF).

​Professor Lo Yuk-Lam, Chairman, Hong Kong Bio-Med Innotech Association.  Prof. Lo is also Chairman, Advisory Council On Food And Environmental Hygiene, Food and Health Bureau The Government of the HKSAR.

Dr. Judy Tsui, Senior Advisor  of the Institute for New Economic Thinking and the Greater Bay Area Impact Forum Foundation. She also is a Board Director and Chair of the Board’s Education Strategy Committee at Wuhan College. She was previously a Visiting Scholar of the Sloan School of Management at MIT. She has served on numerous boards as Independent Non-Executive Director, including Sino-Ocean Group Holdings Ltd, CLP Holdings and China Vanke Co Ltd. She has published over 40 academic papers in prestigious journals on topics of accounting and corporate governance.  In 2003, she was the lead consultant on three consultancy projects for the HKSAR government, her work formed the basis for subsequent corporate governance reform in the Territory. Recently, Dr. Tsui co-authored a book, titled “Business Sustainability in Asia”, published by Wiley.

Dr. Joe Lam, Managing Director, Greater China, Pearson Group.  Dr.  Lam joined Pearson in 2014 and is currently the Managing Director of Pearson Greater China.  He has extensive experience in healthcare and education across China and Asia Pacific region.

Mr. Michael Morrissey, President and CEO of the International Insurance Society (IIS). The IIS is the largest and most diverse organization of the global insurance industry. He is a member of the Steering Committee of the World Economic Forum’s Mitigating Risk in the Innovation Economy initiative.
